It’s supposed to be the happiest time of the year, but with entertaining, shopping for gifts, decorating, and hosting overnight guests it can be totally overwhelming. We can easily get wrapped up in the stressors of the holiday season and forget to stop and embrace all the magic this time of year can bring. What about sitting and watching the snow with a hot cup of cocoa or enjoying time with family you don’t get to see very often? We don’t get some of these opportunities any other time of year, so it’s important to ENJOY these moments instead of stressing.

We have few tips to make the holidays stress free and help you bring a little joy to the world.

# 1 Stock up on supplies.

Make a list (it might be a long one) of everything you may need during the holidays. Wrapping supplies (tape, paper, ribbon, bags), cooking necessities (twine, stock, butter, dried herbs), etc. This will help eliminate last minute runs to the store. If you have everything you may need on hand, it’s one less thing to worry about.

#2 Make a game plan.

Making a plan ahead of time will help organize your schedule and you will have a clear idea of what needs to be done and when.

#3 Ask for help.

Especially if people offer! People (for the most part) genuinely want to help. It will make them feel more involved and you will definitely feel more relaxed. Have people bring a side dish or a bottle of wine to a dinner you’re hosting. Did your Dad offer to take the dog for a walk? Great! No matter how big or how small, a little help can go a long way.

#4 It’s ok to say NO.

We tend to say yes way too often. It is perfectly ok to say no to the invite to that holiday party, just to stay home in your PJs, have a glass of wine, and binge on Netflix.

#5 Remember to have fun.

You get to spend time with loved ones, make someones day with the perfect present, wear festive clothes, and decorate the house. That doesn’t sound so bad, does it? This should be time of enjoyment, not stress!

#6 Take time for yourself.

We get so busy during the holidays that it’s difficult to stop and take even a minute for ourselves. Make sure to take some well deserved time, whether it be sitting and reading a magazine or taking a nice long bubble bath. You’ll be better person for it, promise.
